He’s not even aware that he embarrassed himself . He feels no shame . Just one more opportunity to insult those that he believes himself to be superior to. He is the worst tragedy that ever befell our country, and I doubt that we will overcome the damage he’s caused our country for decades.

I agree, he wanted also to be back in the new cycle, everyone talking about him, and he got it.

I read what you write, about “none of this is funny,” and I respect it without question.

That said, my family and I have never before had the chance to sit and just listen to Mr. Trump speak. It was unbelievably hilarious. Back in debates for the 1988 election (Michael Dukakis against George H.W. Bush), I remember a Saturday Night Live skit, with [not Eugene Levy, but] Jon Lovitz acting as Dukakis, and probably Dana Carvey doing his great Bush impression. All that I remember of that skit was the vague memory of Carvey’s goofy Bush-ness, during which the camera cuts to Lovitz, staring directly at the camera, who shrugs in defeat, and says, “I can’t believe I’m losing to this guy.”

In the same way, as we watched today’s video, all we could think of was how humiliating it is, for the people of the United States, that so-many of our fellow citizens voted for the clownish miscreant. And millions of them voted for him twice! He sounds like an eighth-grade kid, sitting before the class, and spouting out nonsense using a limited, un-artful vocabulary.

I agree about the sense in which the invitation should not have been issued. I agree with every element of the disrespect. In particular, we were impressed with how ABC’s Rachel Scott comported herself.

What they should have ought to have done, back when Mr. Trump won the 2016 election, is they just should have shut the country down. The stain may not soon leave our national escutcheon. But maybe someone will pick up that beloved escutcheon and whack Mr. Trump on the back of the head. It would not dent his tortured mental capacity, but it might do the rest of us a world of good.

Meanwhile: Kamala Harris. Right?

I don't think he lost any votes as a result of his disgraceful

behavior. He did exactly what MAGAts wanted to see, and he did exactly as expected by people who would NOT vote for him.

If anyone is genuinely undecided, which almost impossible to believe, this might have made a difference, but those people are also unlikely to have seen him or to have read it about it in the media.

Some people may praise the three women on stage with him, but what did the NBJA expect? After the first journalist tried to hold Trump accountable for his ‘answer’, the efforts at direct rebuttal to Trump tapered off. Sure, people were aghast at Trump's comments, but there really wasn't proportional responses from the journalists.

If his team hadn't stepped up in a panic and ended the Q&A abruptly, Trump would have overwhelmed the interviewers just as much as he always does, including in debates.

He was outrageous because of the context. He has said before just about everything he said at the NBJA.

I am glad that his disgraceful comments are finally getting noticed by more in the mainstream Newsertainment industry, but none of this should surprise them.
