This is Now Up to US (but it always was) - And We Can DO It
The U.S. Supreme Court today illustrated why I've been urging y'all for years not to rely on the legal system to solve the political problem known as Trump. Because the courts are NOT going to and never were going to save us from him.
Only WE can do that. We saved ourselves four years ago by voting him out of office. And we can do it again this year - not just by voting Blue in every single race up and down the ticket in November, but by doing everything we can in the meantime to ensure that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris get the 270 electoral votes they need to win reelection.
Volunteer for your local Democratic Party or organizations doing GOTV, register voters, canvass, write postcards, make phone calls, donate money, if you can.
And VERY IMPORTANT, talk up Biden and Harris every chance you get with strong, positive messages. Let people know we're with them because they are and always have been with US
Please don't repeat GOP talking points intended to tear down our candidates or buy into the comments of cynical pundits who are not giving you facts but feeding you rumors and misinformation for ratings and clicks.
And for God's sake, STOP calling for Biden to get out of the race. That is both unfeasible and impossible.
Focus on all of the many, many strengths of this ticket and the two amazing people we are fortunate to have at the top of it.
Highlight and harness the awesome power of the movement behind them - the movement known as US.
Sure, we all have fears and we all have some doubts. Politics isn't easy or safe or sure. But fretting about them does us absolutely no good and dwelling on them won't produce one single more vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. And publicly perseveration hurts them and us. So we need to let that go. Just let it go.
This is probably the ONLY time I will say this, but in this rare instance, I'm telling you to be more like MAGA. Those people have the worst candidate in the history of our republic, but you don't see them sitting around whining about it or demanding a do-over. They are with him hell or high water. We need to do that, too - and not just because we have two incredible candidates, but because our lives depend on it.
So, come on and let's do this.
And we can and we will do this if we keep our eyes on the prize, hold on, do the work, and as the Rev. Adam Clayton Powell said, "Keep the faith, baby!"
